Fyre Festival Themed Birthday Party During Quarantine

#Fyrefestival was the most talked about festival of 2017. For those of you who don’t follow.. check out Fyre: the greatest party that never happened on Netflix. It’s a documentary that focuses on the disastrous build up to the Fyre festival which was hosted by Billy McFarland. Cringe-worthy but hilarious. My sister and I couldn’t stop talking about it and laughing for months.

For her 26th birthday, I decided to recreate Fyre festival with the help of my bestie. We’re all still in quarantine but we wanted to try to make the celebration special.

I made all the decor to reference a bunch of funny parts we loved from the documentary.

Decorated straws with Billy, Ja Rule and of course Andy. 

I printed these on card stock paper and used my silhouette cameo to cut these but printing & scissors work just fine. I also made some extras to super glue to toothpicks to decorate the appetizers.

FYRE festival lanyards (festival passes)

Ordered lanyards from amazon and used the background from the FYRE promo to print off these tags.

Exauma Point Beach Bar & Grill Sign (restaurant from the documentary)

We ordered take out from one of her favorite restaurants, so I decided to turn the kitchen table area into the popular restaurant from the documentary. 

I used a regular white poster board and letters from the Dollar Tree. I added clip art drinks and palm trees last minute to make it more festive.

FYRE: Birthday Banner

I used the silhouette cameo to print off the letters but the letters from the poster can definitely be used here to easily create a banner. You'll just need to punch holes in the corners to put the string through.

So much fun and SO funny. Wishing we could’ve shared the fun with more of our friends and family but it was an eventful day nonetheless. Quarantine birthdays are not so bad after all.
